Smoking and Colic May Be Linked
A mother who smokes during or after her pregnancy increases her child’s risk of developing colic, according to a recent study. The nicotine in smoke likely increases blood levels of a protein involved in digestion, resulting in painful cramping.
According to the research, mothers who smoke during pregnancy have double the risk of having babies with colic.
