Dr. D. J. Scott
The Loss of a Legend

September 25, 1923 — September 23, 2011

We are sad to inform our readers of the passing of Dr. D.J. Scott, an internationally-recognized and respected expert on supervised fasting. A frequent lecturer at NHA/ANHS Healthy Living Conferences and Seminars, Dr. Scott was an uncompromising proponent of Natural Hygiene. He served this organization on its board of directors for a number of years and was the founding president of the International Association of Hygienic Physicians (IAHP).

My dad was one of the great Hygienists of our time.

He discovered the power of Natural Hygiene at age 30 after falling victim to polio, about six years following his return from World War II.  Under the extraordinary guidance of Dr. Gerald Benesh, he overcame this health crisis, adopted the Hygienic way of life for himself and our family, and never looked back.

Irwin and Bob Goodman

Irwin and Bob Goodman

Brothers exemplify wise leadership and community service!

Generosity is a way of life for longtime ANHS Life members Irwin and Bob Goodman. Since they established their jewelry business in Madison, Wisconsin in 1938, these two brothers have become so highly regarded for their philanthropic endeavors in their community that July 1 of each year is designated as Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Day! What’s more, the 200 block of State Street in Madison was recently renamed “Goodman Plaza” in their honor.

The American Natural Hygiene Society is also a recipient of the Goodmans’ generosity. Each year, they make a substantial contribution at the Century Club Luncheon at the ANHS Annual Conference, and they have made provisions for the Society in their wills.
